For the final time before Thursday night’s pre-season finale against the Cowboys, the Dolphins held a full practice today and coach Tony Sparano met with the media afterwards. Right off that bat, the coach confirmed that LB Channing Crowder would not play in this week’s game, which should come as no surprise after we found out that he received a second opinion on his mystery injury yesterday. Other notes:
-The coach is still clearly upset about the way his team played last week against Atlanta. Check the video below to see what he had to say.
-Sparano sees Chad Henne and Brandon Marshall about where he thought they would be at this point. He also said that at this point in the (pre) season that the team is not yet at a point where they are gameplanning a way to get the ball into a particular guy’s hands.
-Never one to single players out, Sparano did bring up Roberto Wallace’s name when asked if anyone has surprised him at all with versatility. He said that Wallace’s contributions on special teams have really pleased him.
-In case you’re curious, TE David Martin is the backup long-snapper, behind John Denney. Sparano would go on to call Martin “One of the better backup long-snappers I’ve ever been around.” Love me some long-snapper talk.
UPDATE: Here are some video highlights of the coach, including his can’t-miss discussion of the Falcons game as well as some discussion about CB’s Benny Sapp and Nolan Carroll:
