After last night’s 16-0 loss, the first time the Dolphins have been shutout at home since 2001, we figured there was no better person to give us some perspective than the Mad Dog, Jim Mandich. Keep reading to see what Jim has to say about this one and what he saw…
Guest Blog, by Jim Mandich:
It was just a very, very dispiriting performance by the Dolphins against the Bears. The building was rocking, a couple of former great Dolphin players Jake Scott and Bill Stanfill got inducted into the Ring of Honor, a Thursday night, national showcase game, the fans wanted to celebrate, and I don’t think there was a single hand-clapping moment in the entire game.
Offensively, it’s just a banged-up offensive line, you’re down to your 3rd string center, Pat McQuistan is back in there, Jake Long is playing with a strapped down shoulder. The line couldn’t help generate a running game, couldn’t protect for Tyler Thigpen and I think that was the root of most of the Dolphins offensive problems on Thursday night.
Defensively, there were a few redeeming efforts out there and also with the Special Teams unit. However, coming into this game I was expecting a pretty dog-gone competitive football game and what I witnessed was one unacceptable performance by the Dolphins.
