Pittsburgh has been known for impressive defenses back to their “Steel Curtain” days with Mean Joe Greene, L.C. Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, and Dwight White up front, Jack Lambert at linebacker, and cornerback Mel Blount patrolling the back end.
Nowadays, big Casey Hampton anchors the nose, while LaMarr Woodley and James Harrison come off the edge, with Lawrence Timmons on the inside, and Troy Polamalu delivering blows to wide receivers.
Dolphins offensive tackle Jake Long knows exactly what he will be facing Sunday at Sun Life Stadium against the Steelers. They’ve got big bodies up front that will keep you busy while guys like James Harrison bust outside.
Jake met with the media to talk about the challenge he faces as the offense readies itself for an all-out battle in the trenches. He talked about what makes Harrison so dangerous at linebacker, how comfortable he is with Chad Henne behind center, and how the line has adjusted with Pat McQuistan in at right guard.
