Finsiders Award Week: Newcomer of the Year
By on February 9, 2011 at 12:01 pm

Today we give out the award for 2010 Newcomer of the Year. Remember, the following formula will determine which player is given the honor: one vote from Facebook, one vote from our 5-7pm live-chat, and one vote for each of the three hosts on today’s show. Keep reading to see who has been nominated and be sure to vote!

Newcomer of the Year:

Karlos Dansby: A natural leader by example, Dansby was exactly what this young Dolphins defense needed in 2010. Karlos finished second on the team in total tackles and third in sacks, and finished two games with double digit tackles.

Other Nominees:

Koa Misi: Misi captured our Rookie of the Year award yesterday and is looking for more hardware today. Of all the draft choices last season, no one was counted on to play like a veteran early in the season more than Misi.

Brandon Marshall: The 2010 season was a productive one for Marshall as he lead the Dolphins in receptions and in receiving yardage. Marshall lead the Miami offense in receptions nine times this season and ranked second in the AFC in receptions.

Richie Incognito: The unrestricted free agent started all 16 games for the Dolphins last year: 15 at left guard and one at center. He was one of the most consistent offensive lineman throughout the year.

Benny Sapp: Sapp was acquired in the trade that sent wide receiver Greg Camarillo to the Minnesota Vikings. Benny started five games this season, but was instrumental in the nickel package covering the slot receivers.
