Game Preview: Dolphins vs. Texans, 9/18/11

Week 2

The Miami Dolphins look to even their 2011 record and avoid an 0-2 start Sunday as they host the Houston Texans (1-0) at Sun Life Stadium. The Dolphins have never defeated the Texans, falling five straight times since Houston entered the league as an expansion franchise in 2002.

Last week, the Dolphins were part of a historical offensive showing in their 38-24 loss to the Patriots, as Tom Brady and Chad Henne combined to throw for more yards than any quarterback combination ever had in a single game.

This week, the Fins’ defense looks to rebound, though they’ll be tested by an offense that was arguably second-best in the NFL last year, behind only New England.

The 2010 NFL rushing leader, Arian Foster (1,616 yards), is expected to make his season debut for the Texans after sitting out last week with a hamstring injury and will be one of the main reasons the Dolphins defense will be facing another stiff challenge in Week 2. For more on the Miami defense, check out our analysts’ opinions on which defenders need to step up most against Houston.

Foster is not the only dinged up player in this game, of course. The Dolphins will be without defensive lineman Tony McDaniel (hand), though RB Daniel Thomas and FB/TE Charles Clay are both expected to make their NFL debuts after missing Monday night’s game with hamstring injuries. The Texans are riding high after opening the season with a 34-7 win over division rival Indianapolis, who of course were playing without the services of Peyton Manning.

Finally, former Dolphin Troy Stradford and I get you ready for this one with our weekly video preview of the game:
