[1]Earlier today on the Dolphins Twitter page [2], fans were shown a snippet of a box score from Dolphins history and asked to try and figure out what game it came from. All three were relatively easy to figure out, but I thought it might be fun to go a little bit more in depth:

Game #1:

[3]This snippet, of course, comes from the Dolphins December 2nd, 1985 win over the Bears at the Orange Bowl. Chicago came in with a 12-0 record, threatening the undefeated mark of the ’72 Dolphins. As you see, Dan Marino threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns, two of which were caught by Nat Moore, to help lift the Fins to a 38-24 win and send the Bears home with a 12-1 record.

Game #2:

[4]For this game, fans were only shown the kick return numbers, but it was still a pretty easy one to figure out. This snippet, of course, comes from the first-ever regular season game in Dolphins history, on September 2nd, 1966. It was a Friday night at the Orange Bowl and Joe Auer took the opening kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown, as the Fins jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Oakland would win the game 23-14, but Auer’s name was forever cemented into Dolphin lore.

Game #3:

[5]This time, we are only shown the Dolphins receiving numbers. The key here is Mark Ingram. When I think Ingram and four touchdowns in a game, I think fake spike, and that’s exactly when this was from: November 27th, 1994. Down 24-6 in the 3rd quarter, Dan Marino lead the Fins back to a 28-24 win over the Jets which was highlighted by the fake spike play.

Fun stuff, be sure to continue to check out @MiamiDolphins [2] on Twitter for more chances to play “Name the Game!”
