The Finsiders Pick at #15

With the start of the 2011 NFL Draft now just two days away, I figured it was finally time to get as many of our guys on the record as possible concerning what they think will happen if the Dolphins make their first selection at #15 overall. So, assuming no trades will be made, here are what some of the Finsiders think the Fins will do at #15…
Sam Madison: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
I’m going with need for the Miami Dolphins. Carimi, at 6’7, gives us size and strength to help whatever running back get through the holes on the right side of the line. I think he is a guy that can play either guard or tackle and will not miss a beat if shifted. Not sure how Veron Carey’s offseason is going after his season-ending surgery. This selection will give Coach Sparano the peace of mind and help the Achilles’ heel of this football team.
Kim Bokamper: Torrey Smith, WR, Maryland
He brings speed and brings even more value thanks to the latest issue concerning Brandon Marshall. With or without Marshall, though, Smith can contribute to an offense looking for more contribution.
Keith Sims: Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
This is Jeff Ireland’s first draft without the shadow of Bill Parcells. Parcells would have gone the safe route (RB – Mark Ingram) just like he did when they held the #1 pick and selected Jake Long over Matt Ryan. The Dolphins need a difference maker and the QB is the key to winning and winning big in today’s NFL. This is the type of pick that a GM makes a name for himself. If he’s right, he’s found the next great franchise QB. Of course if he’s wrong, the downside of this pick isn’t as bad. What NFL franchise wants to keep making the wrong decision on what most people feel is the most important position on the field? Mallett helps Dolphin fans forget this list: Cleo Lemon, Joey Harrington, AJ Feeley, Gus Frerotte. Do I need to go any farther?
Troy Drayton: Mike Pouncey, OL, Florida
Pouncey is the best available interior lineman in this year’s draft. The Fins need help at both guard or center and Pouncey is yet another versatile lineman that can come in and help out in multiple ways. Some say he may be a reach at #15, but the pick makes sense.
John Congemi: Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
Of all the QB’s in this draft, Mallett is the most NFL-ready to play next year. His arm and the things he was asked to do at the line of scrimmage puts him ahead of the others both mentally and physically.
Which Finsider makes the best argument?
