Could Cox Be Possibility At No. 8?

But what if the Dolphins don’t take Tannehill?
The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero, too, thinks it will be Tannehill, but he gave a few off-the-radar options the Dolphins may consider in the first and second rounds.
“Here is the name to keep in mind just in case: Fletcher Cox,” Salguero wrote, in reference to the Dolphins’ eighth pick.
There’s been plenty of speculation that Dolphins would target either Quinton Coples or Melvin Ingram if they were looking to address pass-rushing concerns, but Cox could also be a possibility.
The 6-foot-4, 298 pound defensive lineman played primarily at tackle for Mississippi State, but he also shifted outside at times, displaying a versatility that should be appealing. Potentially more important to a team like the Dolphins, he flashed an ability to get to the quarterback and did so against elite competition.
“Like Tannehill, he would fill a need because the Dolphins are looking for pass-rush help and lost Kendall Langford to free agency,” Salguero wrote. “Unlike Tannehill, he would play right away because he was dominant in the Southeastern Conference, the NFL’s Triple A, and is NFL-ready now.”
