Inside Tuesday’s Transactions

With voluntary workouts underway, the Dolphins announced they are bringing back two members of last year’s team.

On Tuesday, defensive lineman Phillip Merling and offensive tackle Lydon Murtha signed their restrictive free agent tenders.

Merling, who is entering his fifth season, all with the Dolphins, will look to compete for playing time on the defensive line. The Dolphins selected Merling the with the 32nd overall selection, the first pick in the second round 0f the 2008 draft. During his four-year career, he has made five starts, recording 3.5 sacks and one interception.

The Dolphins also re-signed Murtha, who missed a portion of last season with a toe injury. Prior to the injury, Murtha had been solid in relief of both Jake Long and Marc Colombo. The former seventh-round pick of the Detroit Lions could compete for the starting right tackle spot in 2012.

In an effort to add to the team’s retooled defense, the team hosted free agent visits with linebackers Jonathan Goff, Quentin Groves, Bryan Kehl and Gary Guyton.

Goff, a four-year player who was previously with the Giants, is coming off an ACL injury that caused him to miss the entire 2011 season. Before the injury, however, Goff started all 16 games for New York in 2010, recording 80 tackles and a sack.

Groves, a former second-round pick out of Auburn, spent the last two seasons with the Oakland Raiders after two years in Jacksonville. Last year, Groves made 24 tackles for Oakland.

I Like Miami’s Draft Chances This Year Being At No.8. I Would Not Go Overboard With This Ryan Tannehill-QB wait Until The 3rd For Quarterbacks. We Need Impact Players Now Like Matt Kalil-OT or Riley Reiff-OT Or Dontari Poe DT These Players Will Develop Into Great Players As Starters. Matt Moore-QB Showed Great Potential Last Year And He Should Be Giving A Chance To Develop Even More!!!
