Many Dolphin Possibilities For 2013 Pro Bowl

[1]With voting for the 2013 Pro Bowl now underway (click this link [2] to vote), The Finsiders give their selections on which three Dolphins players they feel are the most deserving candidates to earn a trip to Hawaii

John Congemi’s Selections

Mike Pouncey- For a young center, Pouncey has shown to be a dominating run blocker and an athletic lineman who can also get to the second level, which is not easy to do consistently!

Randy Starks- The silent anchor of the run defense that ranks at the top of the NFL in run defense. Starks also has 3.5 sacks from the defensive tackle position and an interception, which is a bonus at his position.

Cam Wake- Although it took a couple of games to produce numbers, Wake’s play has been dominate. His 6.5 sacks and 14 quarterback pressures has disrupted opposing offenses and his production will continue to rise as the season moves along.

Troy Stradford’s Selections:

Sean Smith- He has been handling the top receivers on a weekly basis and really has brought stability to the Dolphins secondary

Cam Wake- Wake has once again been a relentless pass rusher and teams have had to account for him weekly with double-teams. Wake has still produced 6.5 sacks on the year. Cam has also become and excellent leader for the team.

Mike Pouncey- The second year center out of Florida has set the tone up front for the Dolphins in the run game. Pouncey has also been very good in pass protection, becoming a force in the interior of the Dolphins o-line.

Troy Drayton’s Selections:

Jake Long- Jake has been selected to the Pro Bowl 4 consecutive years, and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t earn a return trip to Hawaii. Jake has once again been a leader as well as a tremendous lineman for the Dolphins offense.

Randy Starks- Starks started off the season strong with a pair of sacks in Houston and is one of the main reasons why the Dolphins rank 4th in the NFL against the run.

Mike Pouncey- Pouncey deserves recognition because he has been excellent in the trenches for the Dolphins this year and repeatedly has paved the way for the Dolphins running backs to have large running lanes.

Sam Madison’s Selections:

Randy Starks- His 3.5 sacks 2 pbu’s and 1 INT he should be packing his bags for the long trip to Hawaii. Helping lead this defense to a top 5 ranking against the run from his spot at defensive tackle.

Cameron Wake- People think he started slow this season but coaches understand where playmakers are on the field and they double teamed him, chipped him and with all that he has 6.5 sacks coming the hard way. Through hard work and a high motor. He will be looking to pad those stats after a well needed bye week.

Mike Pouncey- Last year the reason he didn’t make the Pro Bowl was due to some bad snaps and his brother, Maurkice, of the Pittsburgh Steelers. This young leader on this offensive line has all the talent to be labeled as the best the NFL has to offer at the center position and he is on your Miami Dolphins football team ready to finish the season on a strong note. 22 straight starts of his young career and counting. He can run block, pass block, and get down field to spring speedy, quick running backs or wideouts to gain extra yardage.

Other Strong Candidates

Karlos Dansby- Dansby leads the Dolphins in tackles with 46 and in solo tackles with 37. Dansby is a key reason why the Dolphins have one of the NFL’s top run defenses.

Paul Soliai- The Dolphins defensive tackle earned a well-deserved trip to Hawaii last year, and once again has been a dominant force along the defensive front.

Brian Hartline- Hartline has emerged in the Dolphins offense this year, and leads the Dolphins with 514 receiving yards, a total good for 5th best in the AFC. Hartline has provided plenty of big plays for the Dolphins offense, with 7 plays of 20 yards or longer so far in 2012.

Brandon Fields- The Dolphins punter leads the AFC with a 51.0 punting average. Fields has consistently been one of the league’s top punters and is deserving of a Pro Bowl berth at some point in his career.

Reggie Bush- Despite playing through some bumps and bruises, Reggie is 7th in the AFC in rushing with 434 yards as he as averaged an impressive 4.4 yards per carry.
