Report: McNutt Meets with Dolphins
By on April 10, 2012 at 2:25 pm

There has been much speculation as to what type of wide receiver fits Joe Philbin’s offense and Marvin McNutt has been singled out as a potential option.

In preparation for the draft, the Dolphins have decided to take an extended look at McNutt.

According to Scout.com’s Aaron Wilson, Iowa’s all-time leading receiver has visited the Dolphins.

McNutt was a consistent threat for the Hawkeyes during his four-year career, but his production jumped during his senior season, catching 82 passes for 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns.

After his impressive 2011 season, McNutt was named the Richter-Howard Wide Receiver of the Year in the Big Ten.

Perhaps strengthening a possible McNutt-to-Miami connection was the hiring of Ken O’Keefe, the Dolphins new wide receivers coach, who spent the past 13 seasons as Iowa’s offensive coordinator.

This team made some great strides this off-season. I like the coach, I love Tannehill. I’ll be going to a whole lot of Fins games this year! GO FINS!

scottsind says:

marvin mcnutt is going to be a steal to whoever drafts him. his redzone presence is much needed and yes hawkeye players are a good bet to succeed in the nfl. not saying they all do but Ferentz is very good at developing nfl talent

sirspence7 says:

11,315 yards! We shoud trade everything to move up to number 1 and draft him. He’s the greatest reciever of all time and he’s not even in the pros yet. Why didn’t he win the Heisman?

(being tongue and cheek of course)

djrich says:

Lol. Funny Sirspence7. First of all, you don’t need to win the Heisman to be a great football player. Secondly, The NFL likes to recruit Iowa players because their program actually prepares them for the NFL better than most, not to mention the great head coaches they are known for. And, lastly, have you ever even seen McNutt play? I doubt it or you wouldn’t have made the comment in the first place.

JaxDolphin says:

I think he was commenting on the typo that gave the kid 11,000 yards in one season. Just sayin’.
