Andy Cohen In The Morning Debuts Monday

130721_Cohen_IntroAs many of you know, I have been writing columns for Dolphins.com for several years and for Dolphin Digest much longer than that. But I’m about to take it to another level. Beginning on Monday, I will be your morning cup of coffee, the splash of cool water on your face, your early day Dolphins fix. Call me A.C. in the A.M.

Each morning, Monday through Friday from the beginning of training camp through the end of the season – excluding a few days during the bye week — you will now be able to read my exclusive Dolphins-related column on the team’s official web site.

This is an important step for both myself and the Dolphins. For me, it represents an opportunity to convey and articulate the knowledge I have accrued over the past 33 years of covering this franchise. It gives me a chance to spread my insight on an every weekday basis.

For the Dolphins, it represents a real commitment to giving its fans credible, opinionated content. There is no nozzle being placed on this column, no far-fetched restrictions. I will be critical when necessary. I will dissect defeat when applicable. But I will be just as intent on savoring victories and explaining why things are looking good.

Mostly, you can always count on me to be fair. Above all else, fair.

The columns will be posted Monday through Friday at around 6 a.m. or about when the newspaper hits your doorstep.

The content will almost always be about the Dolphins, at least in some fashion. I’ll opinionate about their opponents, about their history, about the challenges they face. I’ll hopefully help you get to know the coaches and players a little bit better and I may even introduce you to some people in the organization you had no idea even existed.

I’ll analyze games and dissect outcomes. I’ll help guide you through a marathon of a season, trying to make sense of it all as each mile-marker passes.

I won’t hold grudges and I won’t pull punches. At times, I’ll try to be funny; other times I’ll tackle very serious issues. You may not agree with what I’m saying, but I’m hoping you understand why I am saying it.

Do I want the Dolphins to succeed? Of course, I do. Everything is more enjoyable when they win and that’s why four straight losing seasons have gotten a little old, don’t you think? I know what you want. I know what you care about. I know how deeply you care.

I’ll try to answer your questions as much as I can. In fact, I will devote a regular column, perhaps once a week, to doing just that. Just send those questions to my twitter account: @ACohenFins.

I’ll tell you in what ways Ryan Tannehill is getting better. I’ll try to read between the lines of what Joe Philbin is saying. I’ll evaluate the draft picks and tell you about some of the unknowns who may actually have a shot. I’ll tell you who is playing well and why someone might be struggling. Occasionally, I’ll tackle some NFL issues that I know must interest you. And I’ll take a close look at each opponent and try, along with you, to figure out what the Dolphins need to do to win the game.

So before you unwrap your newspaper or log onto another sports site, share your first cup of coffee or that fresh glass of orange juice with me. See if I can begin your day with a nice portion of Dolphins insight to whet your appetite. Come along and spend part of your mornings with me. I really think you’ll be glad you did.
