131016_AC_AM [1]Andy Cohen In The Morning appears every Monday through Friday until the end of the season. The column is posted each day at 6 a.m.

Have a question for A.C.? Submit your questions to Andy Cohen on Twitter at @ACohenFins [2]. Andy will answer questions every other Wednesday throughout the season.

##############

Q. What player has caught your eye the most this season? @FinsAlex

AC: My first response is the quarterback because you watch everything he does. But as I think about it, Paul Soliai stands out in my mind. When he wasn’t in the lineup, the Dolphins clearly suffered [3]. When he’s been in the lineup, he has been a consistent force. I can think of at least four or five minus plays that directly can be attributed to Soliai. Very impressive.

##############

Q.  What needs to be done to plug the holes in the secondary? @JohnnnieJH

AC: Dimitri Patterson is back on the practice field and could very well play Sunday against the Bills [4]. That’s what needs to be done. If you recall, Patterson intercepted two passes against Cleveland before a nagging groin injury sidelined him for far too long. Put Patterson back out there with Brent Grimes and, as rookies Will Davis and Jamar Taylor continue to mature, this secondary should have more than enough talent.

##############

Q. When are they going to start flipping Mike Wallace to different sides or the slot? @DevididWoods

AC: I’m hoping soon. Wallace can do so much from so many different directions. He can cause confusion. I’m truthfully not sure why he already hasn’t moved around much, but I know it’s in the playbook and I believe it’s in the plans.

##############

Q. What’s the key to protecting Tannehill better than we have? @ 66Sam Thompson

AC: I could be cute and simply say “block better” but this is not a joking matter. What would I do? More three step drops. More rollouts. Quick throws from the shotgun formation [5]. Mix it up. Keep the pass rushers guessing. But that can only work for so long. Sooner or later you are going to need a drop back throw and if maximum protection is needed to assure Tannehill’s safety, then so be it.

##############

Q. Any free agent targets on the Dolphins radar? @RufusP88

AC: Unfortunately the radar doesn’t extend until the offseason. I do know they have a master list for each year’s free agent crop. I’ll try to sneak a peek after the season.

##############

Q. Andy, are we going to try to trade for a running back or an OL? @ Dolfin55

AC: If that were in the works, I really think it would have been last week during the down time of the bye. So my best guess is that nothing will happen, though I’ve been wrong before. I look at it this way: A team with a playoff shot will not give up any player of real value and a team with no playoff shot is looking for the steal of the century. Either way, you don’t really win unless some team is having a garage sale.

##############

Q. Andy, if you could play in a golf foursome with any three players on the team, who would they be? @brandonpolsky

AC: What a great question. Have obviously never thought about it. But now that I have, I’d have to start with Ryan Tannehill. I think he’d have some good stories to tell and, besides, you can always use a quarterback. Got to also include Mike Wallace. No slow play on the course with him around. The final member of my foursome? Probably Richie Incognito who resides somewhere between outrageous and entertaining [6]. Too bad, though, there isn’t a player named Mulligan.

##############

Q. How certain is it that the Fins go O-Line in the first round next year? #Pow766

AC: It is certain it will be an area of priority. But what if it comes in free agency or by a trade? That would change first round priorities. Predicting how things will unfold on draft day is an exercise of futility. Believe me, I have felt that futility many times.

##############

Q. What is the organization doing with regards to No. 54 (Zach Thomas). Retiring it or just not letting anyone wear it? @ Mike Dacenko

AC: Although no official announcement has been made, I wouldn’t look for the Dolphins to be handing out either No. 54 or No. 99 [7] (Jason Taylor) anytime soon.

##############

Q. A 3-2 record. Competitive AFC. First division game at home this week, but travel to New England next: Is this a must win? @finfan71

AC: A must win in the sixth game of the season? Let’s see, if they lose they are 3-3 heading to New England and then Cincinnati is waiting Halloween night. That would be tough. Not necessarily a must win. But as close as you can get.

##############

Q. Is Charles Clay the long-term solution at tight end? @Zellhound

AC: He is a long-term answer for this offense, I can already tell you that. Whether it’s at tight end remains to be seen [8]. The thing that makes Clay so special is that he’s not prototypical at any position, a matchup nightmare. He does so many things well and has excellent speed for a player his size. I’m not sure he’ll be the long-term answer at tight end, but he’s not going anywhere.

##############

Q.  What are they going to do to correct the horrible offensive line play? @ShyMcGhiey

AC: Wish I had a magic wand. Know this, the coaching staff doesn’t have blinders on. They see what you see. This is Concern No. 1 on this team right now and it is being treated as such. The Buffalo game should tell us a lot coming after the bye.

##############

Q. Andy, you’re in a fistfight. Which Dolphins player do you want at your side? @rGkopp

AC: Can I take the whole team along for that one? Paul Soliai would be tough to turn down, but give me Cameron Wake. That’s one tough dude who’s in shape to go the distance [9].

##############

Q. Don’t they at least have to try to run the ball more? @Seymour536

AC: Not if it isn’t working. It’s possible this offense is better suited to set up the run with the pass. In other words, come out throwing, enjoy success and then turn to the backs. But the strength of this offense is throwing the ball and we can’t lose sight of that.

##############

Q. Andy, are we ever going to get Tom Brady out of this division? @SaraJfins

AC: I’m open for suggestions. A one-way ticket to his dream destination? The way he’s been playing this season, it (unfortunately) doesn’t look like he’s going to be calling it a career anytime soon. Here’s hoping that someday Patriot fans are asking the same question about Ryan Tannehill.

On Thursday, AC in the AM takes a unique look at offensive coordinator Mike Sherman.
