Over the last month, fans have been trying to decide at NFL.com, voting for their favorite in a 64-play bracket. Sixteen plays remain, and the Dolphins’ Duriel Harris to Tony Nathan “Hook and Lateral” play is still alive after taking down the Cowboys’ Roger Staubach to Drew Pearson Hail Mary.
Dolphins quarterback Don Strock told the Finsiders what went into the play once head coach Don Shula made the call on the sideline.
“I said, ‘Listen, we’ve got six seconds left in the half. If someone bites on this, he won’t have a job next week,’” Strock said. “So we picked out the most aggressive guy, which was to our right, I think it was (Chargers CB Willie) Buchanon if I’m not mistaken, and he came and bit the cheese.
“He came after Duriel and Duriel was falling down, looked like he was going down. He thought it was a safe play for him to come up running up and he pitched it. The rest is history. “
In the third round, the “Hook and Lateral” will go up against Troy Polamalu’s “Flying Tackle,” with Round of 16 voting open until tomorrow, Saturday, March 30 at 5:00 pm ET HERE.
