NFL.com Picks Most Underrated Players In Franchise History
By on July 2, 2013 at 2:22 pm

BowensSome of the biggest headliners in league history called either the Orange Bowl or Sun Life Stadium home, helping create and maintain a winning tradition in Miami.

Look at the Dolphin Honor Roll — the names are synonymous for big-time football fans: Shula, Marino, Csonka. etc.

Without the contributions of another special group of players, though, maybe none of this possible, maybe the ’72 Dolphins don’t pull off an undefeated season, maybe the string of successful seasons is cut short.

For an NFL.com special feature, The Finsiders’ Jesse Agler helped pick the five most underrated Dolphins players in franchise history — a group of versatile, important players that may have not received the credit they deserved.

In conjunction with Jesse’s picks, a few Finsiders analysts chimed in with their thoughts. Former Dolphin O.J. McDuffie picked fellow receiver Oronde Gadsden, saying that he consistently came up with big catches that bailed out the offense when it was beginning to stall.

On defense, former Dolphins cornerback Sam Madison went with Tim Bowens, the big defensive tackle, citing his ability to open things up for Zach Thomas and the rest of the back half of the defense.
