With the NFL’s free agency period just underway, it appears the Dolphins may be close to an agreement with free-agent receiver Mike Wallace.
NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington reports the Dolphins and the former Steelers wide receiver “have reached an agreement.”
Mike Wallace is indeed on the verge of becoming a Miami Dolphin, I’m told. He’s taking a physical. The sides have reached an agreement.

Wallace, a 2009 third-round pick out of Mississippi, has the ability to get behind the defense, averaging an impressive 17.2 yards per catch in his career. A four-year veteran, Wallace continued to be an important piece for the Steelers offense in 2012 – he finished with 64 catches for 836 yards and eight touchdowns. Wallace’s career totals: 235 receptions for 4,402 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns.
