Jayme Mitchell, Jake LongAfter several days on a free agent visit with the St. Louis Rams, LT Jake Long has reportedly returned to South Florida to spend some time with the team that drafted him first overall in 2008. Jason LaCanfora of CBS broke the news on Twitter early Saturday evening:

I am still not impressed with Ireland. We let too many of our own free agents walk. He brought in a couple of receivers but we still don’t have a QB that can throw the ball and we now have no running game at all.

I am not a Jake Long hater but I am getting really annoyed at the whole wife tweeting business. I mean, who’s making the decisions here? If you’re a Pu$$y-whipped “man” , please don’t tell anyone…especially when you’re a 6’7″ 300+ pound football player. It really makes him look like he’s not in control of this decision. Kinda weird.

elcohonu says:

Did Jake Long visit or not? Salguero says otherwise.

ncumpire51 says:

Long has been a mainstay since he was drafted, but with the injuries he has had the last couple years the 10-11 mill/year he is asking for is a bit much.Yea it would be nice to keep him but he is trying to get his final big payday. Can’t blame him for trying but I don’t think the fins are going to pay that much to keep him.

fairbanksb says:

So much good news is almost to hard to take. Hopefully Jake decides to stay and Grimes would be a good pickup but Rhodes should be there in the first round. I just read in Sports Illustrated that some analyst said that with the pickup of Gibson it probably mean Bess is gone. That would not only suck but it makes no sense.

perfect72 says:

All I know for sure is they are faster, younger and a potentially explosive team on both offence and defence. Do we know these guys are the right mix? Who knows. But if all the pieces fall into place maybe a playoff team. Remeber the playoffs?

perfect72 says:

Or it took him 3 years to clean up the mess he was handed and open up cap space and trim the deadwood so he could have a year like this. How come there’s no crying now that Matt Flynn isn’t here and Bell is long gone? Are you still sad to see Marshall in Chicago? This franchise has been in bad shape for a long time. I’m surprised it didn’t take him longer to clean house. Whether these moves are right or wrong at least there was a plan to open the cap space and bring in the type of players we need. Potential game breakers. How was he supposed to do it before this with a $1.98 in “move money” and no quarterback ?

sbunney says:

Can you hear me now

sbunney says:

The fire Jeff Ireland people are still here. We’ve been waiting for him to get off his a** for years now. Guess the threat of unemployment has lit a bit of fire under his but. Or maybe we finally have a coach that knows how the make the Jeff Ireland puppet dance

perfect72 says:

Lets not forget all the praise we’re heaping on Ireland here, come the middle of December. I’ve agreed with 90% of everything he’s done since his arrival in Miami. Remember the noose has been there for a while. Now everybody loves him and all of a sudden he has become smart. These moves were made to make this team a contender and we all agree right now with all the signings. So if it doesn’t work out for some reason, remember how brilliant we thought he was at the time, and not try to hang him again.

elmajajr says:

I meant You’re. My brain works faster than my fingers.

elmajajr says:

Where are the “fire Jeff Ireland” monday morning quarterbacks NOW!, your so quiet. Is there a pulse out there? I can’t here youuuuuu!

triplefix says:

I’am here you call me, Long is a Ram rigth now !
Whats wrong with jefFIREland, he knows either nothing or he ist perhaps overwhelmed with his job.
All our firstrounder of the last years are no longer with the team.
Our new players only come to Miami because there just raining gold.

South Bergen Phin Phan says:

Now that he has returned home lets keep him home. We have done some good things this offseason and this could bring it all together. Keep Jake in Miami. I think Richie Incognito would like him back too.

smoove25love says:

JAKE WELCOME HOME LETS GET THIS RING U ALREADY KNO BRO

Rboston25@aol.com says:

BRING HIM BACK!!! so happy with what we have done so far this offseason!! I hope that there are more big moves to come and we have a bunch of draft picks and a few in the first couple of rounds… This is our year to take over the afc east and the whole afc for that matter.. lets go dolphins..
