Despite the fact that we’re still about four months away from the first preseason game of the 2013 season, this is an exciting time for football fans. The NFL Draft is less than two weeks away and there have been reports that the league would unveil the regular season schedule tomorrow evening.
Now, however, it appears that the league is not ready to release the dates and times of the games for all 32 teams.
NFL.com’s Around the League blog shared a statement from league spokesman Greg Aiello that read: “The schedule is not finalized and no release date has been determined.”
The blog points out that in 2010, the schedule was released just two days before the start of the Draft and goes on to hypothesize that that timeframe could work again this year, calling April 23rd a “best guess” as to when the release may take place.
Teams already know their opponents (Miami will entertain their usual AFC East opponents: New England, Buffalo and the Jets in addition to Atlanta, Baltimore, Carolina, Cincinnati and San Diego at Sun Life Stadium while traveling to take on the Pats, Bills, Jets, Browns, Steelers, Saints, Bucs and Colts) and are now just waiting on the days and times of the games.
