Former Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington spent some at the Doctors Hospital Training Facility in May, acting as a quarterback consultant.
As training camp approaches, Tannehill recently sought out Pennington again for some more one-on-one time, visiting with the retired quarterback at his Kentucky home, the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reports.
“I gave him a few handouts that I found in my notes concerning leadership, favorite quotes, etc. that I thought may be useful,” Pennington said.
Pennington, the last quarterback to lead the Dolphins to a division title, finished his 11-year career as the most accurate passer in NFL history (66 percent). He saw it all, through the ups and downs, making him a great resource for a young franchise signal caller.
“Chad’s a good guy to learn from,” Tannehill said after a May OTA practice. “”He was around the game for a long time and still is around the game. He’s wanting to help, which makes a big difference. It’s exciting for me to get to work with a guy that played at a high level for a long time. Any piece of information I can get from him I’m soaking up.”
