By on March 1, 2013 at 11:36 am

randy-starksWith the start of free agency less than two weeks away, the NFL has officially revealed the exact amount of the salary cap for the 2013 season.

Teams can spend up to $123,000,000 this year and with that information known, the official amounts of the value of the franchise tag for each position can be calculated.

Below you will find the position-by-position value of the franchise tag as well as the list of Dolphins players who can be unrestricted free agents at each position. Teams can use the franchise tag on just one player per year and the tag must be applied by 4pm on Monday, 3/4.

Quarterback: $14,896,000 (Matt Moore)

Running Back: $8,219,000 (Reggie Bush)

Wide Receiver: $10,537,000 (Brian Hartline)

Tight End: $6,066,000 (Anthony Fasano)

Offensive Lineman: $9,828,000 (Nate Garner, Jake Long*)

Defensive Tackle: $8,450,000 (Tony McDaniel, Randy Starks)

Defensive End: $11,175,000

Linebacker: $9,619,000

Cornerback: $10,854,000 (Sean Smith)

Safety: $6,916,000 (Chris Clemons, Tyrone Culver)

Kicker/Punter: $2,977,000 (Nate Kaeding)

The Dolphins did not use the franchise tag in 2012 and tagged NT Paul Soliai in 2011.

*Long’s franchise tag number has been estimated at over $15,000,000 because his previous salary is higher than the value of the franchise tag.

finscraze1 says:

the obvous choice is starks for the tag, thats not to big of a hit and you keep one of the two center pieces in place.

ARLEN says:

I think we should let J. Long go and draft Luke Jockel. We should keep Starks and Mc Daniel.Everytime McDaniels is in he makes a play.We need at least one CB and a SS and there are some good ones in this Draft.

captcrunch says:

Would it be better to try and keep McDaniel than Starks? Mc is two years younger and taller with better reach than Starks. Who do we let walk?
