Six Players Eligible For Supplemental Draft
By on July 8, 2013 at 11:02 am

oj-rossThe annual supplemental draft offers an avenue to the NFL for players with eligibility issues entering a new college football season. So with training camps rapidly approaching, the NFL has set the field for Thursday’s supplemental draft, CBS Sports’ Rob Rang reports.

This year’s class will include: James Boyd, DE, UNLV; Nate Holloway, DT, UNLV; Toby Jackson, DE, UCF; DeWayne Peace, WR, Houston; O.J. Ross, WR, Purdue; Damond Smith, DB, South Alabama.

There is no guarantee that any of the six will be selected, though at least one player has been taken the past four years, including Terrelle Pryor and Josh Gordon, who was selected by Cleveland in the second round of last July’s supplemental draft. The former Baylor Bear, whom many projected as a sure-fire pick when last year’s class was announced, had a productive rookie season, finishing with 50 receptions for 805 yards and five touchdowns.

The 2013 supplemental draft will be held on July 11 at 1 pm, with teams forfeiting a corresponding pick in next year’s primary player draft if they make a selection.
