One of the weaknesses of the Miami Dolphins secondary last season was the health of the players within it, as several defensive backs missed significant time over the course of the 2013 season. One of those players was cornerback Dimitri Patterson, who despite having four interceptions in 2013, struggled through most of the season with a multitude of injuries that restricted him to six games, and only four starts.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Patterson has reportedly been released by the Miami Dolphins.

Patterson signed with the Dolphins in 2012, but was only able to participate in eight out of a possible 32 games due to injuries. The move reportedly frees up over $5 million in cap space in anticipation of free agency, which opens at 4:00pm on Tuesday.
