This week, the Dolphins signed OT Marc Colombo, LB Kevin Burnett, and QB Matt Moore, among others. Those three players have something in common other than their current places on the Dolphins’ roster, though: they’re all CowPhins.

What is a CowPhin, you ask? Well, quite simply, a CowPhin is a player who was once on the Cowboys and is now on the Dolphins.

The Dolphins began implementing their game plan for this Sunday’s showdown at Oakland against the 5-5 Raiders. Both teams are hoping to start extended winning streaks with six games remaining in the regular season.

Dolphins.com Senior Writer Andy Kent joined me for Finsiders TV to talk about today’s news. The team practiced without wide receiver Brandon Marshall, but they did welcome back center Joe Berger.

On this day before Thanksgiving, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano spent a few minutes with the media as the team continued their preparation for Sunday’s game at Oakland. Beginning with injury news, Sparano said that QB Chad Henne was limited in practice today, but participated a good amount. Same goes for center Joe Berger. On the other hand, receiver Brandon Marshall was absent with the hamstring and Sparano said that “he’s doing well” but that the whole thing is going slower than anyone wants it to.

The Dolphins signed offensive lineman Eric Ghiaciuc following the injury to Cory Procter this past Thursday against the Bears.

The team’s offensive line has had to deal with a revolving door of injuries throughout the season.  It began with the versatile Nate Garner, and was followed by an illness to John Jerry, Jake Long’s nagging knee and shoulder problems, and Joe Berger’s recent knee injury.

The Dolphins dropped to 5-5 on the season after a 16 to nothing loss to the Chicago Bears at Sun Life Stadium. The short work week presented some issues for the team as they were hit with a number of injuries following their victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Quarterback Tyler Thigpen stepped into the starting lineup after both Chad Pennington and Chad Henne went down with injuries on Sunday.

The Dolphins started the second half of the season with a big win at home against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday afternoon.  Unfortunately, they also were hit with a number of injuries that they’ll need to overcome in time for Thursday night’s showdown against the Chicago Bears at Sun Life Stadium.

The Bears bring in the top team in the NFC North with a record of 6-3 and fresh off a divisional victory against the Vikings.
