Preseason Week 3

The Dolphins look to run their preseason record to 3-0 tonight when they travel across the state to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.

The Fins are coming off of a 20-10 win over Carolina, while the now 1-1 Bucs were dropped 31-14 by the Patriots. Last week for Miami, the offense put up 301 total yards in the first half and the defense held the Panthers without a point until the fourth quarter.

The Dolphins continue to prepare for Sunday’s showdown in Baltimore against the Ravens looking to capture the same magic that has enabled them to win their previous four games away from home.

The Ravens have been a thorn in the side of the Dolphins dating back to 2008 when they beat Miami twice, including an opening round playoff matchup.  Coach Sparano made a point of mentioning the two games earlier this week, making note that the Ravens defense kept the Dolphins rushing attack in check.

Today the Miami Dolphins announced that they have terminated the contract of two players, waived 18 others, and acquired versatile offensive lineman Pat McQuistan from the Cowboys for an undisclosed draft pick.

There are some definite surprises here, starting with the fact that TE David Martin, re-signed midway through training camp, has had his contract terminated. The team can, of course, bring him back early in the regular season, which could change the amount of guaranteed money that he is owed.

Pre-Season Week 4

Tonight, the Dolphins will play their final pre-season game of 2010 as they get their first look at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Despite the interest in the new stadium and the storyline of guys like Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano returning to their old stomping grounds, this game is all business for Miami. After sputtering on offense and looking sloppy on defense in what was supposed to be the “dress rehearsal” game against Atlanta last Friday night, the Fins need to show the fans and their coaches a little bit more tonight.
