The Miami Dolphins have numerous positions up for grabs when the 2012 Training Camp opens on Friday, July 27, and one area of the team to focus on is the offensive line. Most fans would agree that center and the left side of the line of scrimmage is one of the strengths of this team, but the same cannot be said about the right side where no starters will return to the roster from last season.
This is not a glamour position on the offensive side of the football, but one of importance moving forward in 2012 for the Miami Dolphins. Big bodies asked to be stout and strong as they run block, but have the agility to get outside and lead running back Reggie Bush outside on the edge! The Dolphins were very fortunate last season to avoid injury at this position, seeing the same lineup in 14 of 16 regular season games!
Well, it may be a day off for a lot of folks out there, but the Dolphins were back at work today, practicing in preparation for Sunday’s Week 1 opener against the Bills. The team also made some roster moves today, adding LB Bobby Carpenter, a fifth year player out of Ohio State and another former Cowboy. To make room for him, the team released Charlie Anderson.
Coach Tony Sparano met with the media early this afternoon and we’ll start with the bad news: CB Will Allen, coming off a major knee injury was not on the practice field this morning and Sparano said that the team has sent Allen back to the doctor to have that knee reexamined. If he has suffered a serious setback it is a major blow to the depth at corner that was part of what has made this defense so intriguing.
